Cancer Carers Interest Group

The Cancer Carers Special Interest Group provides a focus for researchers and oncology health professionals with an interest in informal carers (e.g. family / friends) of people with cancer.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the psychosocial needs of carers, health professional communication and engagement with carers, carer wellbeing, distress / burden / fear of recurrence among carers, and targeted carer support.

PoCoG members who wish to share knowledge and ideas and collaborate to develop and conduct research are encouraged to join.

Aims and objectives of the group

  • Create more opportunities for members to collaborate, become involved in initiating, developing and participating in collaborative research projects relevant to or with a focus on cancer carers

  • Share information about current and planned cancer carer research and foster collaborations

  • Develop a network of clinicians/researchers interested in participating in/contributing to carer-related studies
