Workshops

Concept Development Workshops

CDWs are hosted by the Scientific Advisory Committee and provide a supportive environment for intensive input on study design and methods from a multi-disciplinary faculty. Members of the PoCoG Community Advisory Group are also invited to attend.

PoCoG holds a minimum of two formal CDWs per year. Members can also submit research ideas and protocols on an ad hoc basis, subject to approval by the Management Team.

The next Concept Development Workshop is scheduled for December 2025, at a date to be announced. All PoCoG members are welcome to apply by completing this application form and sending it to the PoCoG Office by early October 2025. Exact dates will be updated on this page as they are finalised.

Conditions

PoCoG will support development of the concepts presented with the understanding that the investigator intends the project to be a collaborative study. By accepting an invitation to a CDW, the investigator must undertake to:

  • continue developing the concept to funding stage.

  • report on progress of the concept within one year of the workshop OR inform PoCoG if the project is to be postponed or abandoned.

  • acknowledge PoCoG.

Who can apply?

Submissions are open to existing members of PoCoG.

Who can attend?

Successful investigators and one member of their proposed research team can attend.

The review process:

Submissions will be reviewed by representatives from the PoCoG Management Team and successful investigators will be notified within a week of the closing date.

Submissions will be considered on the basis of:

  • Importance: potential to inform the science and practice of psycho-oncology and likely to be of interest to funding bodies

  • Scientific quality: the study design and methods that have been proposed in the application have the potential to be developed into a high-quality research plan.

  • Feasibility: the investigators have the required expertise (or can access this via PoCoG) and are likely to be able to garner the needed resources to successfully complete the project

  • Potential outcomes: this study will significantly improve health outcomes.

Cost

There is no cost to attend CDWs, however, in the case of in-person meetings attendees should be able to cover their own travel expenses.
