Cancer-Related Cognitive Impairment Interest Group

The PoCoG Cancer-Related Cognitive Impairment (CRCI) Special Interest Group provides a network for multidisciplinary PoCoG members to focus on the impact of cancer and treatment on cognitive function in people living with a cancer diagnosis.

Topics of interest include eliminating cognitive symptoms associated with cancer and treatment, the mechanisms that underpin these changes, and to develop and test interventions to help manage these symptoms.

PoCoG members who wish to share knowledge and ideas, and collaborate to develop and conduct Cancer-related Cognitive Impairment research, are encouraged to join.

Aims and objectives of the group:

  • Increase opportunities for networking with members with a similar interest

  • To conduct research to build understanding to eliminate cognitive symptoms and develop and test interventions to help manage these symptoms

  • To maintain awareness and knowledge of CRCI research and clinical resources for cancer patients and carers

  • To create recommendations and guidelines for future research to determine incidence, severity, risk factors, causes and interventions for cognitive dysfunction

  • To collaborate on research projects to advance knowledge and actively seek funding to support this work

  • Increase healthcare professional knowledge of and confidence in managing CRCI

This group is led by Dr Priscilla Gates and Dr Sian Virtue-Griffiths.
